2 days hike to Toubkal

Morning

• Pick-up: 07:00 from your hotel or riad in Marrakech by private 4×4 or minibus.

• Drive Duration: ~1.5–2 hours (approx. 65 km). Scenic drive through the Haouz plains and into the High Atlas Mountains.

• Arrival in Imlil: ~09:00.

Start Trek

• Route: Imlil → Aroumd → Sidi Chamharouch → Toubkal Refuge.

• Distance: ~11 km | Elevation gain: +1,460 m

• Begin with a gradual climb through the Mizane Valley passing Aroumd village and terraced fields.

• Reach Sidi Chamharouch (2,310 m) after ~2 hours for a rest stop, tea, and snacks.

• Continue on steeper rocky mule tracks with zigzags and switchbacks up the valley.

Afternoon & Evening

• Arrive at the Toubkal Refuge (3,200 m) by mid/late afternoon (~15:30–16:00).

• Settle in, rest, and enjoy the high alpine scenery.

• Dinner and overnight at the refuge (shared dormitories, basic facilities, warm sleeping bag needed).

Total time:

• • Drive: 1.5–2 h

  • Hiking: 5–6 h (moderate, steady uphill)

  • Max altitude: 3,200 m

  • Overnight: Toubkal Refuge

Very Early Morning

• Start time: 04:30 – 05:00 (with headlamps) to catch the sunrise from the summit.

• Route: Refuge → South Col → Summit → Refuge → Imlil

• Climb steep scree and rocky slopes to the South Col (3,900 m), then follow the ridge to the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m).

• Stunning sunrise views across the High Atlas and, on clear days, as far as the Sahara.

Late Morning

• Descend back to the refuge (~2–2.5 h).

• Enjoy breakfast/brunch and rest briefly.

• Continue down via Sidi Chamharouch and Aroumd back to Imlil (~4 h).

Afternoon

• Arrive in Imlil around 14:00 – 15:00.

• Private transfer back to Marrakech.

• Drive Duration: 1.5–2 hours.

• Drop-off at your hotel or riad by ~17:00 – 18:00.

Total time:

• • Hiking: 8–9 h (challenging: steep ascent and long descent)

  • Drive: 1.5–2 h

  • Max altitude: 4,167 m

  • Overnight: Not included (return to Marrakech)
