How hard is the 7-day loop

The 7-Day Toubkal Grand Circuit is moderately challenging / Grade B, with longer trekking days and higher passes. Anyone with good fitness can complete it, even without prior trekking experience, as long as you pace yourself and follow the guide’s instructions.

This trek is perfect for travelers who want a full High Atlas experience: villages, valleys, alpine lakes, and the summit of Toubkal. It’s suitable for moderately fit beginners and experienced hikers alike.

How long are the trekking days?

Daily trekking ranges from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the terrain and elevation gain. You’ll have time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and experience local Berber culture.

Bring comfortable hiking shoes, layered clothing, a sleeping bag, water bottle, sun protection, and personal trekking gear. Camping equipment and meals are provided.

When is the best season for this trek?

The ideal months are May–October, when trails are mostly snow-free. Early spring or late autumn can be colder, and winter requires snow gear and experience.

Day 1 :

Imlil (1,740m) → Tachdirt (2,300m)

Meet your guide in Imlil, the gateway to the High Atlas. Trek over the Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2,279m) with sweeping views before descending into the beautiful village of Tachdirt.
Overnight: Guesthouse in Tachdirt
Walking: ~4–5 hrs

Day 2 :

Tachdirt → Likemt Pass (3,555m) → Azib Likemt (2,600m)

A long but stunning climb over the high Likemt Pass. Enjoy panoramic views before descending to the summer pastures of Azib Likemt.
Overnight: Mountain camp/guesthouse
Walking: ~6–7 hrs

Day 3 :

Azib Likemt → Amsouzart (1,800m)

Descend through wild valleys and scattered Berber hamlets until reaching the welcoming village of Amsouzart.
Overnight: Guesthouse in Amsouzart
Walking: ~5–6 hrs

Day 4 :

Amsouzart → Lake Ifni (2,295m)

A shorter day, but unforgettable. Hike up to the turquoise waters of Lake Ifni, nestled in a deep mountain basin. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the lake.
Overnight: Camping by Lake Ifni
Walking: ~4–5 hrs

Day 5 :

Lake Ifni → Toubkal Refuge (3,200m)

Climb steadily over the Tizi n’Ouanoums pass (3,670m) with dramatic rock walls before descending to the Toubkal Refuge.
Overnight: Refuge (shared dorms)
Walking: ~6–7 hrs

Day 6 :

Summit Day! Mount Toubkal (4,167m) → Refuge → Imlil

Day 7 :

Departure from Imlil

Enjoy a final breakfast in the mountains before transferring back to Marrakech or continuing your Moroccan journey.
